"Learn to Lead" Lesson Plans

The CAP Leadership Project developed 28 lesson plans to supplement the DRAFT  "Learn to Lead" textbook modules.

Thanks to the Cadet Officer School 2009 students, who helped provide the following lessons for module one, "Personal Leadership:"
   - Character
   - Air Force Tradition (customs, uniform, chain of command)
   - Air Force Tradition (importance of drill, drill & ceremonies)
   - Self-Management
   - Communications
   - What Makes a Leader
   - Roles of a Leader (visionary, motivator, communicator)
   - Roles of a Leader (expert, teacher)

Here are some the lessons for module two, "Team Leadership:"
   - The non-commissioned officer
   - Coaching & mentoring
   - Supervision & discipline
   - The team's life cycle
   - The LEAD model
   - Conflict
   - Leading in a diverse society
   - Organization
   - Presenting arguments
   - Essential communication skills
   + 10 more!

Lesson plans are easy to understand, yet detailed enough for a 15-year-old cadet officer to lead, under adult guidance. Lesson duration should last 25-35 minutes. Refer to section 2.5 in the Cadet Staff Handbook for details on how to write a good lesson plan.

The goal is to explain the abstract concept found in the textbook through the guided discussion method. If you need help with guided discussions, please research the web for guided discussions or ask a teacher.

Important Notes

All lesson plans submitted were reviewed and approved by the Project Lead prior to submitting to CAP's Cadet Programs. In case of more than one submission of the same or similar lesson plan, the Project Lead made the decision on which person gets the credit. Only the best lesson plans were selected. The Project Lead determined the winners. The CAP Leadership Project expects all submissions to be original work developed by the participants.
